​The Dental Board of California (DBC) is the state agency that licenses and regulates dentists, Registered Dental Assistants (RDAs), and Registered Dental Assistants in Extended Functions (RDAEFs) to protect California consumers' oral health. Its mission is to ensure qualified professionals practice by setting standards, investigating complaints against licensees, enforcing the Dental Practice Act, approving educational programs, and issuing various permits for sedation, anesthesia, and other functions.
